Back to School Dental Tips

Sep 17 • 1 minute read

While you are running around checking off the Back-to-School Ultimate Check-list here are some helpful tips to get you ready for back to school. Easy and you can do it at home!

1. Re-establish Your Dental Routine:

During the summer, it can be easy to miss a brushing or two. Re-establishing your dental routine will help encourage your little ones to keep up with their preventive  care at home. Brushing 2 times a day and flossing at least 1 time a day. We recommend brushing their teeth to their favorite song!

2. Start Going To Bed Early:

A good night sleep is great for your overall health, including your dental health. Lack of sleep can lead to daytime fatigue, loss of concentration and excess snacking as a stimulus.

3. Avoid sugary drinks and treats

When picking up those back-to-school snacks and lunches, be mindful of how much sugar is in the food or drinks. Eating or drinking lots of sugar can lead to cavities and tooth decay. We recommend apples, nuts, cheese and plain yogurt (watch out for added sugars).

4. Drink Lots of Water

Drinking water will keep you hydrated, but it will also help remove any bacteria and plaque from building up.

5. Schedule Your Dental Visit

Avoid missing too many days of school by going to your dental check-up before school starts. Toothaches can be very distracting and painful. Our team of specialists will make sure your smile is cavity-free and you can start off the school year with a fresh, clean smile!
